Ministry of Public Health to Import PVC Vaccines for Children in July

Bangkok: The Ministry of Public Health is set to import PVC vaccines, targeting children under 12 months, with distribution expected to commence in July. This initiative marks a significant step in bolstering the country's immunization efforts for young children.

According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Public Health, Mr. Pattana Promphat, disclosed that the National Health Security Office (NHSO) is in the process of importing the Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV). This plan has been presented to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and the Cabinet, with the first batch of vaccines anticipated to arrive around the third quarter of the year. The procurement process is underway, with costs reportedly lower than initially estimated, and there is a confirmed sufficient supply for the target group.

Mr. Pattana also highlighted an additional proposal to expand healthcare benefits for families of soldiers who lost their lives in border conflicts. Currently, families lose their medical benefits upon the death of a soldier. The government aims to amend this, allowing families to retain benefits, thereby boosting morale for those who have made significant sacrifices. This proposal will be discussed in the upcoming NHSO board meeting, with an expectation of immediate implementation.

On another note, Mr. Pattana addressed concerns regarding the Hantavirus, confirming its absence in Thailand. He emphasized that, although present in Singapore, there have been no reported infections. The Department of Disease Control remains vigilant, particularly with tourists entering the country, to prevent any potential outbreak.
