Buriram: A woman driving a Fortuner that struck and killed two siblings insists her 2-year-old child was securely in a car seat and did not interfere with the steering wheel. She has committed to providing full compensation. Notably, the car's front camera memory lacks footage from the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred on the Satuek-Non Champa road in Buriram province. The Fortuner, driven by Ms. Pirun, 43, crossed lanes and collided with a motorcycle carrying the two siblings, resulting in their deaths. Ms. Pirun refuted claims that her young son played with the steering wheel, leading to the crash. She stated that her son was in a car seat during the accident, and she was driving at a speed of only 70-80 kilometers per hour. The incident happened on a curve when her son began to vomit. She turned to her eldest son, aged 12, seated in the back, asking him to find tissue to clean his brother, which is when the collision occurred. Ms. Pirun affirmed her willingness to provide full compensation to the victims' family.
In examining the Fortuner, cameras were identified at the front and rear of the vehicle, but no memory card was present. Ms. Pirun admitted to removing the card. Upon inspection by reporters, it was discovered that the card had available space but did not contain any footage from the time of the accident.
