Mother of Fallen Soldier Remembers Her Son’s Sacrifice on Thai-Cambodian Border

Bangkok: The mother of Private Weerayut Krajangthong, who lost his life in a recent clash on the Thai-Cambodian border, shared her poignant experience of remembering her son on Mother's Day. She expressed that she could only see him in her dreams and found solace in looking at his picture whenever she missed him.

According to Thai News Agency, Mother Tin Krajangthong, aged 61, is the proud mother of Private Weerayut Krajangthong, a 22-year-old soldier who died on July 28 during the border conflict. The family now lives in a royal home provided by His Majesty the King. Despite the loss, the presence of her son's photograph offers her a tangible connection, allowing her to gently touch his face and converse with him through her memories.

Before Private Weerayut left for the battlefield, he gave his mother 140 baht as a token of care due to their financial struggles. Their home, once in disrepair with only pillars and a decaying roof, was a testament to their humble beginnings. Every Mother's Day, Private Weerayut would traditionally honor his mother by offering respects, giving her money, and performing a ceremonial bath. However, this year, Mother Tin experienced a deep sense of loneliness, seeing her son only in a dream. In this dream, he guided her through a battlefield, helping her escape the chaos. She awoke to the sound of dogs barking, believing it was a sign of her son's presence.
