Bangkok: The National Police Chief has implemented seven stringent measures to address the issue of illegal aliens entering the country and engaging in illicit activities, with a promise of visible results within seven days. Any officers found to be involved or negligent will face severe punishment.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the national police chief, declared the Royal Thai Police Office's commitment to tackling issues related to illegal aliens, organized crime by foreign gangs, and transnational crimes. To swiftly resolve these concerns, an order has been issued for strict enforcement of seven measures designed to prevent and address these problems.
The measures include pre-entry screening of foreigners, increased scrutiny at airports and immigration checkpoints, and the installation of advanced surveillance technologies like License Plate cameras and AI-integrated CCTV systems. Checkpoints will be established along key routes, particularly in high-risk surveillance areas, to intercept unauthorized movements across borders.
Accommodations, tourist areas, and border regions will undergo thorough inspections, with a focus on preventing illegal crossings through natural channels and border points. Proactive checks will be conducted at gas stations, rest stops, and bus stations, accompanied by rigorous border patrols and inspections of crossing ports.
Coordination efforts will be intensified to prosecute offenders and corrupt officials, with an emphasis on investigation and expansion of results. Between January 20-24, 2025, these measures led to the rejection of entry for 10 high-risk foreigners at airports, 47 denied stay extensions in Tak Province, and the arrest and fining of 92 individuals for overstaying.
In Tak Province, comprehensive inspections included 275 accommodation checks, 16 airport inspections, and 170 checkpoint assessments. Additionally, awareness discussions reached 461 individuals, ensuring understanding of the risks and dangers involved.
The Royal Thai Police, supported by various specialized crime centers, will maintain continuous operations, leveraging technology and international cooperation to uphold security standards for all tourists. Officers are mandated to perform their duties diligently, with any negligence subject to administrative, disciplinary, and criminal actions.
