Natthapong Confirms Disciplinary Action Against MP Phanthil

Bangkok: "Natthapong" confirmed that disciplinary action has been taken against MP Phanthil, emphasizing that they are not ignoring the matter and urging everyone to wait and see if Phanthil demonstrates sincerity in apologizing to the village headman.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, commented on the Disciplinary Committee's consideration of the facts and punishment regarding Mr. Phanthil Nuamjerm, a People's Party MP for Bangkok. Mr. Phanthil had made remarks implicating village headmen and community leaders in drug trafficking. Following this, information suggested that the Ministry of Interior was contacted to arrange for Mr. Phanthil to directly apologize to the village headmen. Mr. Nattapong avoided commenting on the Disciplinary Committee's findings, only clarifying that the party's executive meeting yesterday confirmed that the disciplinary action had been completed.

When questioned about the possibility of disclosing the results, Mr. Nattapong stated that this was an internal party disciplinary process and confirmed that disciplinary action had already been taken. He added that they were now awaiting a demonstration of sincerity from those involved towards the parents, siblings, and village heads who may have been implicated. He reiterated that the matter was not being ignored.

When pressed for confirmation of the news reports regarding whether there was a request for Mr. Phanthil to apologize to the village headman, Mr. Natthapong stated that the main point he wanted the public to know today was the government's attempt to insert the 200 billion baht loan into the emergency decree. Regarding the disciplinary issues concerning MPs within the party, he reiterated that the matter is being handled.
