Nearly 900,000 Thais Register for Advance Voting in Upcoming Election

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has reported that nearly 900,000 people have registered for advance voting after 12 days. The registration period was established for voters who wish to cast their ballots ahead of the official Election Day.

According to Thai News Agency, the ECT summarized that a total of 884,290 people registered for advance voting, both within and outside their electoral districts, as well as for overseas voting, during the 12-day period from December 20-31, 2025. The breakdown of registered voters includes 4,557 individuals who will vote within their district, 807,121 who will vote outside their district, and 72,612 who have registered for overseas voting.

The registration remains open from December 20, 2025, to January 5, 2026, for citizens with essential commitments preventing them from voting on February 8, as well as for those residing outside Thailand and officials designated for election day duties.

Citizens who have registered for advance voting but decide against it or are ineligible to vote on the advance voting day of February 1, 2026, have the option to cancel their advance registration. This cancellation allows them to participate in the general election and referendum scheduled for February 8, 2026.
