Bangkok: Nunew Chawarin, a popular actor from Thailand, has taken legal action after receiving death threats on the social media platform, X. The threats, which included mentions of traveling to Thailand to commit a crime, have prompted Nunew to refuse to be a passive victim. In response, she has filed a police report to combat the perpetrator.
According to Thai News Agency, Nunew's on-screen partner, Zee Phruek, expressed his anger on his personal X account by defending her, calling the threats "despicable and irredeemable" and the perpetrator "low-minded." Nunew replied to Zee's comments by stating, "It's okay, they will receive the consequences of their actions someday. Karma will find its way to them eventually." Her agency, Domundi TV, has released an official statement in support of her actions.
Recently, Nunew spoke about the incident at an event she attended with a colleague, Su. She shared that despite her 4-5 years in the industry, this is one of the first times she has faced such severe threats. The actor described the experience as terrifying, acknowledging the impact it has had on her work and mental health. While she understands that societal and cultural differences might lead some to such behavior, she emphasized that it's unacceptable and only leads to negative consequences.
Nunew has taken the situation seriously, consulting with a lawyer and filing a police report. Although tracking the perpetrator might be challenging due to the nature of social media, Nunew is hopeful that her agency's efforts will be successful. She highlighted her joy at the prospect of catching the culprit and stressed the severity of the threats. With the support she has received, her mental state has improved, but she remains vigilant about her security.
Zee, who publicly supported Nunew, expressed his usual calm demeanor but found the situation extreme and unacceptable. He questioned how those making the threats would feel if their loved ones were similarly targeted, highlighting the seriousness of the harassment. Zee's comments reflect the broader concern for Nunew's safety and the well-being of those around her.
