Maha sarakham: In a dramatic incident, a man was apprehended by officers after fleeing from a hut in a rice field in the Kantharawichai district, Maha Sarakham province. The chase ensued after administrative officials conducted a raid based on complaints about drug use in the area.
According to Thai News Agency, the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Surasak, panicked upon seeing the officials and fled into the rice field. Clad in a black shirt, he was reportedly under the influence of methamphetamine, which he admitted to using shortly before the officials arrived. The pursuit, involving both reporters and police, spanned nearly a kilometer before the exhausted man was caught.
Surasak candidly admitted his drug use and explained that he had purchased methamphetamine from a teenager at the cost of 50 baht per tablet, consuming all of it prior to the raid. Despite having no drugs on him at the time of capture, he expressed his willingness to undergo voluntary rehabilitation. The incident culminated with Surasak humorously pleading for water due to exhaustion and joking about his inability to run back after the chase. He is set to be transferred to the local police station for prosecution and subsequently referred for drug rehabilitation.
