Pakornwut Prepares for Comprehensive 2026 Budget Bill Debate

Bangkok: "Pakornwut" is gearing up to participate in the discussion of the 2016 Budget Bill, expressing hope that the House will allocate ample time for a thorough debate.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pakornwut Udompipatsakul, an MP for the Prachachon Party and Chief Opposition Whip, has emphasized the readiness of the People's Party MPs to engage in the upcoming discussion on the 69th Budget Act. He anticipates that the evaluation of the 2026 Budget Bill, should an extraordinary session occur, will begin in the last week of May. The preparation involves analyzing last year's budget to identify and compare key areas, aiming to avoid the disorder observed during previous censure debates.

Mr. Pakornwut highlighted that the People's Party began its preparations as soon as the parliamentary session ended. The MPs have been tasked with reviewing the previous year's budget in order to formulate topics for discussion, which have been submitted to Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, Deputy Leader of the People's Party. She is expected to lead the discussion regarding the overall budget, while the MPs await further details of the draft law to address specific issues. This approach will allow them to determine if the budget allocation is suitable in light of past challenges.

Mr. Pakornwut expressed confidence in their readiness to engage in discussions by the last week of May, or potentially even earlier. He also mentioned that the People's Party faces no issues with the allocation of debaters and is optimistic that the budget bill consideration will proceed without the confrontational nature typical of censure debates. Both sides are expected to have sufficient time to present their views.
