Bangkok: The Parliament approved Nopadol Pheriruek as Secretary-General of the Council of State, replacing Pakorn.
According to Thai News Agency, during the 11th meeting of the 27th House of Representatives, chaired by Speaker Sophon Saram, the agenda included the approval of the appointment of the Secretary-General of the Council of State. Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan nominated Nopadol Pheriruek for the position, following a Cabinet resolution dated April 21, 2026. The decision was made through a secret vote conducted using the Election Commission's electronic voting machines.
Following the voting process, Lertsak Pattanachaikul, the Second Deputy Speaker of the House, chaired the meeting in place of Sophon and announced the resolution. The appointment of the new Secretary-General of the Council of State was approved with 436 votes in favor, 8 against, and 5 abstentions, out of a total of 449 votes.
