Patrik Schick Announces Retirement from Czech National Team After World Cup Exit

Prague: Patrik Schick, the Czech Republic striker, has officially announced his retirement from international football at the age of just 30, following the team's dismal exit from the 2026 World Cup group stage.

According to Thai News Agency, the Czech Republic competed in Group A during this World Cup, facing the hosts Mexico, as well as South Africa, and South Korea. Despite their efforts, the Czech team struggled, failing to secure a single victory over the three matches they played. They accumulated only one point, ultimately finishing in fourth and last place in their group. In a disappointing turn of events, the team also failed to score a single goal throughout the tournament.

Schick has been a significant figure in the national team since his debut in 2016. Over his international career, he earned 56 caps and scored 26 goals. Among his notable achievements was his performance in Euro 2020, where he became the runner-up in the top scorer list with five goals, also clinching the Best Goal award of the tournament.
