Pattaya: The race for the Pattaya mayor's seat commenced energetically as three major political teams registered their candidates on the first day.
According to Thai News Agency, the candidates from these teams, along with their supporters, gathered at Pattaya City Hall, creating a lively scene as they paid respects at the King Taksin the Great Monument before proceeding with the registration process.
Due to the simultaneous arrival of the candidates before 8:30 AM, confusion arose over the order of campaign numbers. Mr. Kiattisak Sriwongchai, Pattaya City Election Director, intervened by organizing a lottery to assign these numbers. The lottery determined Mr. Itthiwat Wattanasartsathorn of the People's Party as number 1, Mr. Parames Ngampicheth of the "We Love Pattaya" group as number 2, and Mr. Sakchai Taengho of the "Pattaya 2030" team as number 3.
Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, was present to oversee the registration process and confirmed that the day proceeded without any issues. He encouraged public involvement in observing the election to promote transparency and accountability.
Preparations are in place to accommodate voters at all 113 polling stations for the local elections scheduled on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
