PEA and MEA Report Progress on Community Solar Power Initiative

Bangkok:The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) have jointly announced significant progress in the community solar power project. The announcement took place at the PEA headquarters and was led by Deputy Governors Mr. Pradit Fuangfu, Mr. Kittisak Wannakaew of PEA, and Mr. Kittisak Chuechanthanasak of MEA.

According to Thai News Agency, the Solar Power for the Public Project has been actively implemented by PEA, with registration for participants opening on October 27, 2026. As of November 2, 2026, 42,666 individuals have registered to participate within PEA's service area.

In a related development, PEA addressed an issue concerning the promotion of solar power generation systems in the Northern Region, specifically Chiang Mai Province. An internal document intended for preliminary data collection was mistakenly circulated, leading to confusion. PEA clarified that this document was not officially approved and has since been cancelled.

PEA has issued an apology for the communication error and plans to establish a fact-finding committee to investigate the matter. The findings will be used to enhance internal processes, ensuring clarity and adherence to standards. PEA emphasizes transparency and accountability, focusing on improving communication to ensure the public receives accurate and timely information.

For those interested in joining the community solar power project, registration details are available at peoplesolar.pea.co.th, or inquiries can be directed to the PEA Contact Center at 1129.
