sa kaeo: The Ministry of Interior has announced the opening of a permanent border crossing at the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge in Sa Kaeo, along with extended hours for the Chong Sangam checkpoint in Sisaket, aimed at enhancing trade and tourism between Thailand and Cambodia. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Traisuree Traisaranakul, Secretary to the Minister of Interior and Spokesperson of the Ministry, stated that the Royal Gazette published two announcements on October 30, 2024, which are set to bolster the relationship between the two nations. The first announcement concerns the opening of the permanent border crossing at the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge (Nong Ian-Stung Bot), signed by Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul. This crossing will operate daily from 06:00 to 22:00, easing congestion at the Ban Khlong Luek border crossing and facilitating better trade and tourism. The second announcement involves extendin g the hours of the Chong Sangam border crossing in Sisaket Province. The opening hours have been extended by two hours, now operating from 07:00 to 22:00 daily. This extension, effective from October 29, 2024, is a response to significant economic and trade growth at the Chong Sangam crossing. Ms. Traisulee emphasized that these developments reflect the growing trade and tourism relations between Thailand and Cambodia, necessitating expanded infrastructure to support this growth. She highlighted that these measures would enhance relations and cooperation, benefiting the people of both countries in the long term.
