Nakhon Phanom: Waiting for the results of the Nakhon Phanom Provincial Administrative Organization elections, the Pheu Thai Party hopes to topple the old champion. After more than 2 hours after the polls closed, the latest results of the counting of votes for the Nakhon Phanom Provincial Administrative Organization president show that the candidate from the Pheu Thai Party is leading.
According to Thai News Agency, Nakhon Phanom is one of the provinces with intense competition. Both Prime Minister Ung Ing (Paetongtarn Shinawatra) and former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra have visited the area to support Pheu Thai Party candidates' campaigns. The Provincial Administrative Organization used the Khwan Nakhon Auditorium to collect election results for the PAO president and members, with strict restrictions on observers. Officials used 36 computers to broadcast the vote count in real time on a large LED screen outside, with provisions in place for media coverage.
The news team observed the atmosphere at polling stations 5 and 6 in Constituency 2, Nakhon Phanom Municipality, where more than 1,000 eligible voters were present. In Constituency 5, there was a close race between Ms. Suphapani Phosu, former president of the Nakhon Phanom Provincial Administrative Organization, and Mr. Anuchit Hongsadee from the Pheu Thai Party. In Constituency 6, candidate number 2 had a clear lead. Overall, candidate number 8 had a lead in the province.
The director of the Election Commission in Nakhon Phanom Province reported a smooth election process, with voter turnout nearing the 65 percent target. A minor misunderstanding occurred at a polling station where it was falsely reported that an elderly woman received more ballots than entitled. The issue was clarified when it was found she initially received fewer ballots.
Ms. Supanee, candidate number 2, runs as an independent but is supported by the Blue Camp party due to her father, Mr. Supachai Phosu's political background. Her policies focus on infrastructure, transportation, and telemedicine. Mr. Anuchit Hongsadee, candidate number 8 from the Hug Nakhon Phanom team, Pheu Thai Party, focuses on improving infrastructure, public health, economy, and quality of life, aiming to elevate Nakhon Phanom's status from a secondary to a major city.
