Pheu Thai Party Faces Significant Setbacks in Key Strongholds

Bangkok: Unofficial vote counts indicate that the Pheu Thai Party has suffered losses in its traditional strongholds, placing third in several areas. Most notably, the party lost in every district of Chiang Mai, which has historically been a bastion of support for them. Party Secretary-General Prasert Chantharawongthong acknowledged that lessons must be learned from this disappointing performance.

According to Thai News Agency, following the unofficial vote count on February 8th, Pheu Thai Party leaders, including Mr. Julaphan Amornvivat, party leader and prime ministerial candidate, Mr. Prasert Chantharawongthong, Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, party election director, and Mr. Chusak, issued a statement expressing gratitude to their supporters. They emphasized that the encouragement received from voters serves as motivation to continue their work for the people. The party leaders also assured that, regardless of their role, Pheu Thai will strive to work diligently for the populace. Moreover, they acknowledged that forming the government would be the responsibility of the party that secured the first place in the elections.
