Bangkok: Chusak Sirinil, the deputy leader of the Pheu Thai Party, has revealed that the party leaders have yet to make a decision on whether to join the government. He emphasized the importance of considering the reasons and implications of such a major decision for the future of the Pheu Thai Party. Chusak acknowledged that the election results were lower than expected.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak commented on discussions with party leaders concerning the formation of a coalition government, stating that no decisions had been made. When questioned about waiting for signals from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, regarding a potential coalition, Chusak mentioned that they had analyzed the election results and recognized they were below their estimates. He noted that the analysis considered various factors, including the actions of other parties that reached their targets.
Chusak further elaborated on the possibility of forming a coalition government with Mr. Anutin. He stated that whether they wait for an approach from Mr. Anutin or make an offer themselves is part of political tradition, and discussions had not yet commenced. He highlighted the importance of considering both the benefits and drawbacks of joining a coalition, without having reached a decision.
Chusak also mentioned the need to listen to the opinions of supporters and other stakeholders, as it is a significant matter for the party. He confirmed that the party is in constant contact with Yotsanu Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, underscoring the necessity to consider multiple perspectives due to the potential positive and negative outcomes for the party's future.
