Phichit Rattakul Campaigns to Support Dr. Joe for Bangkok Governor

Bangkok: Phichit Rattakul has launched a campaign to support Dr. Joe in his bid for the Bangkok gubernatorial election, stressing the need for a governor capable of addressing grassroots economic issues.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiwat Sathavorawichit, the People's Party's prospective candidate for Bangkok Governor, campaigned in the Sai Mai Road area of Bang Sue District alongside key party members, including Mr. Pijarn Chaowapatanawong and Mr. Woraphop Viriyaroj. Former Bangkok Governor, Mr. Pichit Rattakul, also joined the campaign to support Mr. Chaiwat's candidacy.

Mr. Chaiwat highlighted the historical significance of Timber Street, a notable timber trading hub, which he envisions as a potential landmark for trade and tourism, aligning with the People's Party's policy of empowering local communities. Mr. Pichit praised Mr. Chaiwat's qualifications, noting his engineering background and experience at the Bank of Thailand as assets for addressing Bangkok's urban challenges, including construction, flood prevention, and traffic management.

Mr. Pichit emphasized the importance of decentralization and teamwork, stating that Bangkok's complexity requires collective efforts rather than relying on a single leader. He expressed admiration for the People's Party's focus on strengthening local communities as a foundation for sustainable development. Mr. Chaiwat also acknowledged the valuable experience of the "Worker Ants" group in managing Bangkok, indicating a blend of new and seasoned perspectives in his campaign.

Addressing the preferences of Bangkok residents for a governor affiliated with a political party or an independent, Mr. Pichit noted that both have merits, but teamwork remains essential for effective governance. Mr. Chaiwat underscored the role of the Bangkok City Council in implementing the governor's vision and emphasized the importance of considering the agendas of district candidates for a comprehensive development approach.

Mr. Chaiwat expressed his determination to surpass the achievements of the current governor, Mr. Chatchart, by tackling systemic issues such as corruption through initiatives like "Transparent Bangkok, AI-powered Anti-Corruption." He highlighted the need for a robust system to combat corruption and ensure accountability.

The People's Party aims to present a vision for Bangkok's future through their candidates, demonstrating their potential to manage the city's substantial budget effectively. Regardless of the election outcome, they are committed to offering a better option for Bangkok's residents and showcasing the party's capability to develop the city.
