Pipat Accelerates Road Restoration Efforts in Flood-Affected Songkhla

Songkhla: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, has intensified efforts to restore roads in Songkhla and the southern region of Thailand. He has directed the Department of Rural Roads to deploy personnel and machinery to assist in rehabilitation efforts until the situation improves, ensuring that the public can travel safely and conveniently as soon as possible.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn revealed the ongoing progress in aiding and restoring routes impacted by flooding in Songkhla province. The Ministry of Transport has continuously instructed its affiliated agencies to prioritize public safety. Under the leadership of Director-General Mr. Pichit Hunsiri, the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) has dispatched personnel and machinery to the affected areas to restore roads and ensure quick access for the public. Although water levels have decreased in many parts of the South, some residents are still recovering from the floods, requiring adjustments to their daily life, including transportation and livelihoods. The Ministry of Transport is emphasizing the importance of restoring infrastructure and providing essential supplies such as relief packages and drinking water to support those impacted by the crisis.

Mr. Pichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, reported that since the floodwaters began to recede in Songkhla province from November 29, 2025, until December 9, 2025, the DRR has mobilized personnel, vehicles, and machinery to conduct recovery operations in the flood-affected areas of southern Thailand, particularly in Hat Yai district. The resources deployed include 6 water trucks, 6 6-wheel trucks, 9 dump trucks, 4 excavators, 6 backhoe loaders, 2 towing trucks, 4 4-wheel trucks, and 70 personnel, who have worked diligently to assist the public. Over 300 trips of garbage have been removed around the city.

The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) has coordinated with its rural road offices across the southern region, including Rural Road Office 4 (Phetchaburi), Rural Road Office 11 (Surat Thani), Rural Road Office 12 (Songkhla), and Rural Road Office 14 (Krabi), as well as the Mechanical and Communications Division and the Maintenance Division, to participate in the mission of road restoration in Songkhla province. Their efforts include cleaning roads and houses, distributing water to those affected, and alleviating hardships to enable residents to resume normal life promptly.
