Bangkok: Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul convened an urgent meeting with his economic team on Wednesday at Government House to address the country's energy crisis.
According to Thai News Agency, the high-level talks included Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Energy Minister Auttapol Rerkpiboon, and top economic planners. The meeting follows recent signals from the Prime Minister that the government is prepared to let domestic diesel prices float in line with volatile global market mechanisms.
Ahead of the meeting, Finance Minister Ekniti stated that comprehensive contingency plans are already in place to buffer the public from rising inflation and living costs. He noted that relief measures regarding fuel and transport logistics are ready to be executed immediately once the new government is finalized.
Following the primary talks, the Ministry of Commerce is expected to report on consumer goods pricing, while the Ministry of Transport will manage the impact on the logistics sector.
