Bangkok: The Prime Minister revealed an important step and good news for Thai people with the organization of the F1 race in Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, shared insights following her visit to Monte Carlo, Monaco, where she engaged in discussions with senior executives of the Formula 1 racing competition. She emphasized that securing the F1 race is a crucial development for the nation, aligning with efforts to bolster tourism and economic growth.
Tourism, a vital component of Thailand's economy, is being redefined with initiatives aimed at transforming the country into a year-round destination. The government seeks to introduce 'Man Made Destination' tourism, which involves hosting world-class events like the Formula 1 race to attract international attention and visitors.
Formula 1 enjoys a massive global following, with over 600 million viewers each season. The sport encompasses diverse industries including engineering, mechanics, car brands, and fashion, establishing it as a significant economic driver. Hosting an F1 race in Thailand would catalyze substantial investments and infrastructural upgrades, such as road improvements, construction of grandstands and paddocks, and installation of electronic and digital systems. These developments are expected to generate numerous employment opportunities, both temporary and permanent, contributing to workforce enhancement in the motorsport industry.
During her discussions with Mr. Stefano Domenicali, Executive Chairman of Formula One Group, the Prime Minister explored the feasibility of a racetrack in Thailand, addressing issues of copyright, public relations, and collaboration between F1 and Team Thailand. Ongoing efforts by relevant Thai agencies include detailed studies to identify potential challenges and opportunities associated with hosting the prestigious event.
Ms. Paethongtarn also met with Thai drivers, Mr. Alex and Mr. Tan, at the Monaco Grand Prix racetrack. The drivers expressed their readiness to support the initiative by promoting the sport in Thailand, aiming to foster a sporting culture and nurture future Thai talents in the F1 industry.
