PMs Paethongtarn and Hun Manet Unveil Logo to Mark 75 Years of Thai-Cambodian Diplomatic Relations

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Paethongtarn and Prime Minister Hun Manet have jointly unveiled the logo celebrating the 75th anniversary of Thai-Cambodian diplomatic relations. The two leaders also signed seven significant documents to deepen strategic partnerships, enhance cooperation in security, economy, and development, and confirm the benefits for the peoples of both nations.

According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony took place at the Mali Room, Viman Santiphap Building, where the leaders witnessed the signing of agreements focusing on infrastructure, environmental pollution cooperation, labor, and economic development. These include a Memorandum of Agreement on the Thailand-Cambodia Friendship Bridge and a Memorandum of Understanding on Transboundary Environmental Pollution Cooperation. The leaders emphasized the importance of these agreements in fostering mutual trust and respect.

The Prime Ministers expressed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership with a focus on tangible benefits such as the opening of new consulates and enhanced military cooperation to ensure border stability. They also highlighted their collaboration in combating online fraud and tackling environmental concerns like PM2.5 pollution through joint efforts.

Plans to accelerate border area development were discussed, including an informal joint cabinet meeting and initiatives to boost cross-border transport and economic activities. The aim is to increase trade value between the two countries from US$10 billion to US$15 billion by 2027, with an emphasis on regional economic integration within the ASEAN framework.

The leaders also addressed tourism cooperation and labor issues, advocating legal channels for Cambodian workers in Thailand and the advancement of the 'Six Countries, One Destination' initiative to enhance tourism. Efforts to strengthen cultural ties, especially among the youth, were underscored, with activities planned throughout the year to celebrate this milestone in Thai-Cambodian relations.

Following the joint press conference, Prime Minister Hun Manet hosted a luncheon in honor of the occasion at the Viman Santiphap Building.
