Police Enforce Traffic Laws at Railway Crossing Following Collision

Bangkok: Police are arresting and fining vehicles for traffic violations at a railway crossing. Seven days after the train-bus collision, vehicles are still being seen parked across the tracks and illegally making right turns. Police are cracking down and fining those who violate the law.

According to Thai News Agency, under the Airport Rail Link station today, traffic police from Makkasan Police Station, along with railway officials, were working to facilitate traffic for cars and motorcycles using the railway crossing. Today, several vehicles were found violating traffic laws by parking across the railway tracks and on the yellow lines. Traffic police issued tickets to all vehicles parked on the tracks. Motorcycles that illegally made right turns at prohibited points were also fined.

As the train was about to pass the station, traffic police cleared vehicles from the tracks and directed them to park behind the yellow line. Crosswalk operators then lowered the barriers on both sides and waved red flags to signal to motorists that the train was approaching Asok Station. People using the BTS Skytrain stopped to look at the site of the train-bus collision on Saturday, May 16th, and took photos and videos as the train approached Asok Station.
