Bang Pakong: The road leading to the Bang Pakong River Bridge has become a site of chaos as numerous vehicles were damaged due to a massive pothole. Officials have taken immediate action to address the situation, which led to multiple flat tires and a motorist injury.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred before the Bang Pakong River Bridge on Theparat Road (Bangna-Trat), Km. 50, Expressway, inbound to Chonburi. Officers from the Bang Pakong Police Station received reports of the situation around 9:30 p.m. and quickly coordinated with the Chachoengsao Rescue Unit to inspect the area.
Upon arrival, officials discovered a significant pothole measuring 1.20 meters in length, 60 centimeters in width, and 20 centimeters in depth in the left lane before the bridge. The area was flooded, and a motorcyclist had fallen into the hole, sustaining injuries. Nearby, over 10 sedans and trucks were lined up, awaiting mechanical assistance to replace flat tires.
Mr. Supasak, a 36-year-old motorist affected by the pothole, recounted his experience. Due to the darkness of the road, he did not notice the hole in time and drove into it, causing his car to swerve. He managed to stop in the middle of the bridge, narrowly avoiding a collision with an oncoming truck. He subsequently drove off the bridge to await a mechanic.
In response to the hazardous conditions, Bang Pakong Highway officials acted swiftly. By midnight, they had temporarily filled the pothole with asphalt, promising further repairs to prevent similar incidents in the future.
