Bangkok: The press center reiterated that all parties must adhere to measures to reduce tension. The press center at the Thai-Cambodian border emphasized the importance of adhering to agreed-upon de-escalation measures, highlighting that distorted communication has affected trust between the parties involved.
According to Thai News Agency, on January 4, 2026, the Joint Press Center for the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation stressed the significance of following the established measures. They warned that accusatory communications containing distorted facts could lead to a failure in compliance with these measures, provoke movements and communications that might damage trust, and spread accusations that do not fully reflect the facts, potentially causing misunderstandings in the international community.
The press center expressed concerns that such accusations hinder efforts to resolve the situation peacefully. They called on the Cambodian side to avoid provocative communications or actions and to rely on mutually agreed-upon mechanisms for transparent fact-finding. The center reiterated Thailand's commitment to using direct and consistent communication channels as outlined in Joint Statements 14 and 16 and expressed readiness to proceed through negotiations, diplomacy, and peace mechanisms to maintain peace, stability, and security for the people on both sides of the border.
