Bangkok: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul displayed a protective amulet from a well-known temple, asserting it would help "keep him away from reporters" prior to embarking on an overseas mission.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin humorously mentioned during a media interaction that he possessed a protective amulet from Luang Pho Samli, positioned on the back of his hand, intended to fend off media inquiries. He explained to reporters that his hands had been blessed and inscribed with the "Namamon Mon Nang Phaya" mantra by Phra Khru Sitthitham Wiphach, the acting abbot of Wat Ratchaburana in Phitsanulok province. Anutin chuckled and patted his left hand, where the mantra had been inscribed, while confirming that he had already showered and had checked with the monk if it was permissible to do so.
When questioned about the mystical power and spiritual benefits of the palm-leaf blessing and sacred symbols, Anutin playfully remarked, "I'm avoiding your questions." He then bid farewell with a "Good luck" before proceeding into the VIP lounge of the Royal Thai Air Force Base 6, preparing for his international missions to Japan, the United States, and England from September 20-27. Observing reporters noted that the inscription on Anutin's hand seemed faded in comparison to the images he shared on his personal Facebook page.
