Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Inaugurates Hug Bang Fai Phu Toey 2026 Festival, Boosting Local Tourism and Soft Power

Phetchabun: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul opened the "Huk Bang Fai Phu Toey 2026" festival, highlighting the community's efforts in preserving cultural traditions and supporting the further development of local tourism and soft power.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of the 2026 Phu Toey Rocket Festival at the Phu Toey Subdistrict Municipality Office, Wichian Buri District, Phetchabun Province. The event was attended by the Governor of Phetchabun Province, the President of the Phetchabun Provincial Administrative Organization, local government officials, citizens, and tourists in large numbers.

Upon arriving at the ceremony area, the Prime Minister paid respects before the portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and stood in silent mourning for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The Prime Minister then watched a welcoming performance by 16 dance troupes amidst an atmosphere reflecting local traditions. He also presented awards to the winners of various competitions, including the banner carrier contest, traditional folk games contest, rocket float contest, dance parade contest, and the most beautiful rocket parade contest of 2026.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister presented the royal trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to the award stand for the winner of the 2026 Beautiful Rocket Parade Contest, which was the Phu Tei Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The Prime Minister praised the continuation of this tradition, which has lasted for over 25 years, reflecting the strength of cooperation and pride of the community in preserving its valuable local culture. He congratulated all the teams that won awards in the beautiful rocket parade competition, emphasizing the importance of continuing and preserving this tradition for future generations.

The Prime Minister noted that the creation of each rocket parade reflects creativity, unity, and support from the community, which are crucial factors that ensure the Hug Bang Fai Phu Toey festival remains unique and continues to attract attention today. He stated that the government prioritizes promoting cultural tourism to generate income and economic opportunities for people in the area and to help publicize Phetchabun's best products to a wider audience.

Mr. Anutin expressed confidence that Hug Bang Fai Phu Toey can develop into an important traditional festival that attracts tourists from all over the country. The Prime Minister then officially opened the event by touching a black hydraulic ball amidst impressive light and sound effects, creating a lively atmosphere for attendees and tourists.
