Bangkok: The Prime Minister visited Bang Yai market to inspect the "Thai Helps Thai" initiative and encouraged the public to shop for affordable goods. The Prime Minister is set to visit Bang Yai Market in Nonthaburi to inspect the "Thai Helps Thai X Local Low Cost" campaign, promoting affordable products nationwide with discounts up to 60%.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that today, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will visit Bang Yai Market in Nonthaburi Province to survey the shopping atmosphere. This market is the largest central market for vegetables, fruits, and meat on the western side of Bangkok. The visit is part of the "Thai Helps Thai X Local Low Cost" sales project, an extension of the "Thai Helps Thai" policy by the Ministry of Commerce. This initiative collaborates with the government, private sector, and 99 large local wholesalers and retailers with over 800 branches to offer consumer goods at special prices, with discounts of up to 60%, from May 1st to 10th, 2026. The aim is to provide citizens with access to affordable goods and stimulate the local economy, expected to reduce the cost of living by 25-60%, while also increasing market access for small businesses, SMEs, and OTOP (One Tambon One Product) products.
Furthermore, this May, every Friday-namely, May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th-the Department of Provincial Administration will bring the "Thai Helps Thai" project, offering affordable goods for purchase at district offices nationwide, with discounts up to 58%. The public is invited to participate and purchase these goods.
Ms. Rachada further stated that the 'Thai Helps Thai Plus' project will assist 34 million people, including approximately 13.4 million holders of state welfare cards and the general public. Yesterday, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the economic team to review the readiness of both the budget and the design of the measures. The proposal will be expedited to the Cabinet meeting to ensure it meets the target, which the Ministry of Finance anticipates will see implemented starting on June 1st.
