Prime Minister Calls for Restructuring Gun Ownership Following Nakhon Ratchasima Shooting

Nakhon ratchasima: The Prime Minister emphasized the urgency of restructuring gun ownership regulations after being questioned about a recent shooting incident at an event in Nakhon Ratchasima. He has directed the cancellation of policies allowing the distribution of shotguns at events for village headmen and community leaders. According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul expressed his shock over the shooting incident at the "Taste, Shop, Use" event in Nakhon Ratchasima province, responding with disbelief and concern. He indicated that structural reforms in gun ownership were essential and are currently being developed. The Prime Minister also addressed the issue of controversial images circulating online, which showed a 134th anniversary celebration for village headmen and community leaders on Koh Phangan, Surat Thani province, where shotguns were given as prizes. He has instructed the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration to terminate this policy, suggesting alternative prizes instead. He further requested detailed information from Mr. Narucha Khosasilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, to ensure the policy change is implemented.
