Bangkok: The Prime Minister has decided not to mediate in the ongoing dispute between Chaiwat Junthirapong and Narucha Khosasilai, who are preparing to sue the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. This decision follows a heated exchange over the Civil Service Commission's ruling on alleged illegal transfers within the ministry.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin Charnvirakul, who is both Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed the situation by stating that the "glue" needed to mend the rift among senior officials had expired. He emphasized that interfering in the matter would be considered meddling and expressed confidence that the dispute would not impact the ministry's operations.
The issue stems from the Civil Service Ethics Committee's decision regarding the purported improper transfers by former Interior Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Permanent Secretary Arsit Sampanrat. These actions were reportedly carried out by Chaiwat, former Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, and Narucha, former Director-General of the Department of Local Administration Promotion. Anutin clarified that the decision was made by the independent CSEC and that those affected have the option to pursue legal action.
Anutin also highlighted his role as Minister of Interior, stressing the importance of adhering to policies that promote the well-being of the public. He dismissed any possibility of acting as a mediator, humorously stating that, at his age, he would be like "expired glue." He reiterated that the conflict is a personal matter and that his involvement would constitute unwarranted interference.
