Bangkok: The Prime Minister has stated that it is not yet time to reshuffle the Cabinet, despite discussions surrounding potential changes. She emphasized the importance of waiting for the right moment and considering what kind of adjustments would be most beneficial.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, addressed the recent news that the Bhumjaithai Party had proposed a significant Cabinet reshuffle following coordination with the Pheu Thai Party. She clarified that there had been no discussions with the Bhumjaithai Party about this matter yet. Any necessary conversations or adjustments would involve all coalition parties to determine the best course of action. The Prime Minister acknowledged that the situation is currently in the evaluation phase, with thoughts on potential adjustments still forming.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that no signals have been sent to each party regarding any changes. While there is some contemplation about possible adjustments, no definitive decisions have been made. As for whether changes would affect only the Pheu Thai Party or involve a broader reshuffle across coalition parties, Ms. Paethongtarn indicated that it is too early to discuss such details. She expressed concerns that premature discussions could cause instability among ministries and individuals involved.
When questioned about the timing of a potential Cabinet reshuffle, Ms. Paethongtarn stated that she has considered the matter. She emphasized the necessity of consulting with the core leaders of the coalition parties before making any decisions. If an adjustment is deemed necessary, discussions will take place to gather advice and opinions.
Regarding whether any coalition parties have signaled a need for adjustments, Ms. Paethongtarn noted that no such requests have been made yet. She assured that if decisions on adjustments are finalized, parties will be consulted to express their views. With two years remaining in the government's term, Ms. Paethongtarn advocated for taking an appropriate amount of time rather than rushing into decisions, as hasty changes may not be effective.
Lastly, when asked if the Prime Minister would oversee the overall picture or delegate power to each party to consider changes internally, Ms. Paethongtarn stated that she has not yet determined her approach. She intends to address other matters first and has not initiated talks within the Pheu Thai Party regarding adjustments.
