Jakarta:The Prime Minister met with a network of Asian philanthropies, focusing on Thailand's economic potential and committing to regulatory reforms to encourage investment, enhance transparency, and promote good governance alongside humanitarian cooperation.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ekkapop Pienpises, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that Mr. Edmund Koh, President of the Philanthropy Asia Alliance (PAA), and his delegation visited Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to discuss investment, social development, and humanitarian cooperation. The President of the Alliance praised the government's efforts in combating transnational crime and improving governance while providing humanitarian aid.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted his recent trip to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States, where he advanced investment promotion. He engaged with leading investors and companies in the financial and banking sectors, which helped reinforce confidence in Thailand's economic potential and the government's commitment to fostering a favorable business environment.
The government is prioritizing regulatory improvements to attract investment in new industries, such as data centers, and is aligning policies with global economic trends, including the transition to clean energy. These efforts are part of Thailand's preparations for joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Addressing transnational crime is another key government priority, with measures implemented to dismantle criminal networks and support foreign victims. Humanitarian aid for displaced persons from conflict zones also remains a focus, aligning with the Asia Charity Alliance's guidelines.
The President of the Asian Charity Alliance expressed confidence in Thailand's alignment with the alliance's vision, anticipating cooperation on projects benefiting Thailand and the ASEAN region, particularly in social development and humanitarian efforts.
The Philanthropy Asia Alliance, established in 2022 by the Temasek Trust, seeks to fund and facilitate collaboration between public, private, and civil society sectors to drive social projects and sustainable development.
