Prime Minister Opens MotoGP 2026 and Presents Awards in Buriram

Buriram: The Prime Minister, accompanied by Mr. Newin, officially opened the MotoGP 2026 event and presented awards to the winners. The event commenced with the Prime Minister showcasing his racing skills on the track. The opening ceremony featured a performance by the "Sarakraw Buriram" orchestra, which played the Thai national anthem throughout the stadium.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, along with his delegation, arrived at Buriram International Circuit in Mueang Buriram District, Buriram Province. They visited the Yamaha booth, where Yamaha executives welcomed them and provided a tour. During the visit, the Prime Minister test-rode a racing bike before proceeding to visit the Hot booth, featuring Thai motorcycle racer Somkiat Chantra of the LCR HONDA team. Additional visits were made to the Ducati, PT, and Chang booths. Following these visits, the Prime Minister and his delegation returned to the VIP lounge by golf cart.

Before 12:50 PM, the Prime Minister and his entourage went to the dining room for lunch, accompanied by Mr. Newin Chidchob, President of Buriram United Football Club. At 2:45 PM, the Prime Minister presided over the opening ceremony of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship motorcycle race, 'PT Grand Prix Thailand 2026,' at Chang International Circuit, with Mr. Newin by his side. The ceremony included a traditional Thai shadow puppet performance and a symphony orchestra performance of the national anthem. After the ceremony, the Prime Minister and his wife returned to the grandstand to watch the MotoGP race. At 4:00 PM, the Prime Minister was scheduled to preside over the awards ceremony for the winners.
