Putin Highlights Unprecedented Level of Russia-China Relations

Beijing: Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today in a video message that the ties between Russia and China have reached "a truly unprecedented level." This statement comes just before his official visit to China, emphasizing the importance of regular reciprocal visits and high-level discussions in enhancing the relations between the two nations. According to Thai News Agency, President Putin highlighted the unique characteristics of the Russia-China relationship, which are built on mutual understanding and trust. He stressed the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation, respectful dialogue, and mutual support, particularly concerning core interests such as sovereignty and national unity. President Putin reflected on the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation 25 years ago, which established a strong foundation for strategic relations and a comprehensive partnership. This partnership is aimed at benefiting both countries and their populations. The two countries ar e actively expanding political, economic, and other forms of contact, fostering humanitarian exchanges and people-to-people interactions. These efforts are expected to deepen bilateral cooperation and support comprehensive development, with these topics slated for discussion in Beijing. President Putin commended Chinese President Xi Jinping's dedication to long-term cooperation and expressed optimism that their warm friendship will guide both nations toward a clear future. Trade between Russia and China continues to grow, surpassing US$200 billion, with most transactions conducted in rubles and yuan. Important bilateral initiatives are ongoing, such as the "Russia-China Year of Education," which began in January as part of the 10th bilateral humanitarian project following the Russia-China Year of Culture. President Putin acknowledged China's long history and cultural achievements, expressing a desire to foster closer ties between the peoples of both countries. The implementation of visa-free measures will facilitate greater business and tourism exchanges, opening new avenues for communication between Russian and Chinese citizens. He emphasized the strategic relationship's role in global stability, asserting that Russia and China are not allies against any nation but are committed to international peace and prosperity. They cooperate to uphold international law and the United Nations Charter. Both nations support proactive cooperation through platforms like the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), BRICS, and other multilateral mechanisms, contributing to addressing global and regional issues. President Putin expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of Russia-China partnership, focusing on the dynamic development and well-being of their populations while maintaining global security and stability. His official visit to China is scheduled for May 19-20, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
