She accused the Prime Minister of neglecting his duties to benefit associates and capital groups, allowing corruption in the civil service system. She questioned how the call center gang problem could be resolved under these circumstances.
Ms. Rakchanok emphasized that the Prime Minister, Paethongtarn Shinawatra, is responsible for the damage caused by scams and call centers, with figures from the past 3-4 years reaching 80 billion baht. She suggested that the actual damage might be as high as 100 billion baht per year due to unreported cases.
The Pheu Thai government's vision of positioning the country as a hub for tourism, digital, aviation, and transportation has been overshadowed by its reputation as a hub for grey business, affecting tourist safety and confidence. Ms. Rakchanok criticized the Prime Minister's nonchalant attitude towards these issues and demanded clear solutions.
Ms. Rakchanok pointed out that the call center operations rely on Thai resources and alleged that the Prime Minister has neglected his authority to address the situation, particularly on the Cambodia border. She criticized the lack of cooperation from Cambodia despite close relations and urged for decisive action to tackle the problem.
She also raised concerns about human trafficking and the involvement of Thai citizens in supporting the call center gangs. Ms. Rakchanok questioned the role of mobile phone companies in providing mule SIMs and called for stricter regulations and accountability.
Ms. Rakchanok called on the Prime Minister to address the issue of data leakage and criticized the lack of progress by the Minister of Digital Economy, Mr. Prasit. She urged for systemic reforms to combat downstream problems, such as criminal deterrence and the arrest of key figures involved in illegal activities.
