Rangsiman Rome Addresses Donation Campaign and Political Allegations

Bangkok:Rangsiman Rome, a party-list MP and deputy leader of the People's Party, has declared his commitment to serving the people following the launch of a donation campaign by the People's Party. This campaign aims to support the party's efforts in the upcoming no-confidence debate. Rangsiman emphasized that MPs do not receive salaries and that donations are essential to maintaining party strength and fulfilling its duties.

According to Thai News Agency, Rangsiman stated that the People's Party is fully prepared for the no-confidence debate, scheduled from December 7th to 11th. He explained that the opposition has one month to gather additional information, intending to deepen and clarify the debate's scope. The People's Party relies on public donations to sustain its operations, rejecting financial support from benefactors.

In response to questions about the necessity of donations for the debate, Rangsiman highlighted the financial challenges political parties face, emphasizing the importance of public support over other sources of funding. He reassured that there is transparency in the donation process, although he has not yet checked the latest donation totals.

Rangsiman also addressed a circulated photo with Kamnan Mano, a leader of a protest against the government. He clarified that he does not know Kamnan Mano personally and denied any involvement in the protest. Rangsiman noted that the photo likely originated from a public event in Nakhon Si Thammarat, where he briefly met several attendees.

Additionally, Rangsiman, as Chairman of the House Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights, discussed the investigation into the assassination attempt on Kamolsak Leewamae, an MP from the Prachachart Party. He expressed concerns over the handling of evidence, including a firearm allegedly used in the incident, suggesting possible misinformation from the Navy. He also raised questions about access to critical phone data and the termination of the Department of Special Investigation's probe into the case, implying the involvement of influential figures hindering the justice system.
