Refugees Urged to Stay Away as BM-21 Grenades Land in Buriram Community

Buriram: Refugees are being cautioned against returning to the area as 28 BM-21 grenades have recently landed in the community. The Buriram governor has strongly advised evacuees to remain in safe locations due to ongoing intense and dangerous fighting.

According to Thai News Agency, the governor is seeking cooperation from residents who have moved to shelters or relatives' homes, urging them to delay their return. The current conflict has led to 28 BM-21 artillery shells landing in communities and agricultural zones along Buriram Province's border, posing significant risk as some shells have not yet exploded. Residents are advised to await official updates before considering a return. Village defense volunteers (Chor Bor), responsible for safeguarding homes and property, have been instructed to heighten their vigilance, despite no injuries being reported in Buriram Province so far.

The shelters housing over 60,000 displaced individuals are experiencing shortages of essential supplies, notably diapers for children and the elderly, sanitary pads, and infant formula. Contributions to assist with these needs can be delivered daily to the Chang International Circuit shelter.
