Bangkok: Pol. Gen. Rewat Klinngesorn, a renowned figure within the Bhumjaithai Party, has offered his volunteer services to address the growing drug problem across the nation. Notably, he has made it clear that he will not accept any formal position or salary, nor will he engage in political activities.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Rewat, who previously held the position of commander within the Narcotics Suppression Police, made a visit to the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters. He was accompanied by Mr. Chada Thaiseth, an MP representing Uthai Thani and a member of the Bhumjaithai Party. During his visit, he met with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who was present for a meeting with party MPs. The meeting commenced with a traditional Thai greeting, the wai, signaling mutual respect and cooperation.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Rewat explained that his visit was somewhat serendipitous, as he was in the area picking up his nephew when he coincidentally encountered Mr. Chada. After a brief phone conversation, he decided to return to the party headquarters, not knowing that the Prime Minister would also be present. His primary purpose was to discuss with Mr. Chada and Mr. Worasit Liengprasit, the Deputy Minister of Interior, about addressing the issue of over 2,000 drug-crazed individuals nationwide. He proposed the establishment of a centralized hotline for reporting such individuals, with the goal of apprehending them to ensure public safety, as their families are often unable to manage their behavior. Despite his involvement, he emphasized his intention to remain out of the political arena, offering his assistance without the expectation of any formal role or financial remuneration.
