Sukhothai: The sports world is mourning the loss of Chenyada, a promising young soft tennis player, who died in a car accident shortly after achieving success in a recent tournament. The 10-year-old athlete, known as Nong Janjao Chernyada, had just secured second place in the women's singles category at the Pathum Thani Provincial Soft Tennis Championship.
According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred when a pickup truck collided with a car, causing it to overturn near a gas station in Ban Suan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Sukhothai Province. Chernyada, who was seated in the back of the vehicle without a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and succumbed to her injuries.
This tragic accident took place after Chernyada's participation in the 2025 Pathum Thani Provincial Soft Tennis Championship, held from January 23-26, where she claimed the runner-up title in the under-12 girls' singles category-her final achievement in the sport. The Soft Tennis Association of Thailand has expressed its deepest condolences to Chernyada's family, recognizing the loss of an athlete with significant potential.
