Royal Gazette Announces One-Year Ban on Crude Palm Oil Exports

Bangkok: The Royal Gazette has announced a one-year ban on the export of crude palm oil outside the Kingdom, effective April 7, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Gazette website published Announcement No. 1 of 2026 by the Central Committee on Prices of Goods and Services concerning the control of crude palm oil exports. This decision follows a resolution passed by the Central Committee on Prices of Goods and Services on March 25.

The ban comes in response to rising global petroleum prices due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This situation is leading the energy sector to increase the blending of biodiesel into diesel fuel, which, coupled with the rising demand for crude palm oil exports from Thailand, necessitates the implementation of export controls.

The government's decision is aimed at managing the supply of crude palm oil and maintaining balance across all sectors. The goal is to ensure that there are sufficient quantities to meet domestic demand throughout the year. The announcement, issued under the powers granted by the Price Control Act, will be effective throughout the Kingdom for a one-year period starting from March 26, 2026. From April 7 onwards, individuals will need permission from the Secretary-General of the Central Committee on Price Control to export crude palm oil outside the Kingdom.
