Royal Thai Army Mobilizes Forces for Flood Relief in Southern Thailand

Hat yai: The Royal Thai Army has mobilized helicopters, aircraft, medical units, and special forces to fully support the Forward Command Center for Disaster Relief in Region 4, expediting relief efforts for flood victims in the South. This mobilization comes as the flooding has had a widespread impact on the local population.

According to Thai News Agency, General Pana Klaewplodthuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army and Director of the Royal Thai Army Disaster Relief Center, has ordered the mobilization of Royal Thai Army aircraft, medical equipment, and special forces units to provide urgent assistance to the affected areas. The Army Aviation Center has dispatched one Mi-17 general-purpose helicopter and two EC-145 general-purpose helicopters, along with personnel and emergency medical equipment from the Army Medical Department, to the 42nd Military Circle, Senanarong Camp, in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. These units are set to commence their mission at 4:00 p.m. today.

The Special Warfare Command has also deployed 30 air rescue personnel equipped with Rescue Platform equipment for air rescue operations. These personnel are traveling by Army transport aircraft and are expected to arrive in the disaster area, ready to operate this evening. Additionally, the Special Warfare Command has sent a water search and rescue operation team, including 17 FTS trucks, six-wheel trucks, eight motorized rubber boats, and over 40 personnel, to support the disaster-stricken area. The unit departed from Lopburi Province at 11:00 a.m.

The Army Commander has emphasized the importance of safety, instructing all units to exercise the utmost caution. Personnel have been deployed to support evacuations using boats and high-lift vehicles in areas affected by flash floods. Special forces units have been sent to rappel down and rescue individuals stranded in at-risk areas. Military medical teams are also on-site to provide continuous care to the affected population, ensuring comprehensive relief efforts until the situation stabilizes.
