Royal Thai Embassy Issues Warning to Thai Citizens in France Amid Upcoming Demonstrations

Paris:Thai citizens residing in France have been alerted to exercise caution due to large demonstrations anticipated from November 5-7, 2026. The Royal Thai Embassy in Paris has emphasized the importance of avoiding high-risk areas, verifying travel arrangements, and staying updated with the latest news.

According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Embassy has issued Warning No. 5, cautioning Thai citizens about potential disruptions from nationwide strikes and protests scheduled for November 5th and 7th. These protests, organized by major French trade unions, aim to address grievances such as the rising cost of living and employment conditions. Key sectors affected by the strikes include transportation, education, public health, and government services.

On November 5th, national strikes are expected to impact various transportation services, with particular disruptions forecasted for state railways, schools, and postal services. In Paris, trade unions have proposed a protest march starting from Place de la Bastille. However, the Paris police have suggested an alternative route, and the situation remains subject to change.

Additionally, another protest has been scheduled for November 7th by the Yellow Vest movement, calling for 'Real Equality.' This demonstration in Paris is expected to focus on Place de la Concorde, with possible implications for traffic and nearby metro stations.

Thai citizens are advised to avoid demonstration areas, especially in cities like Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nantes, Rennes, Lille, and Strasbourg, where protests are also planned. The embassy stresses the importance of keeping informed through official announcements and planning travel accordingly to ensure safety during these events.
