Royal Thai Navy Mobilizes for 2025 Loi Krathong Festival Security

Bangkok: The Navy provides security during Loi Krathong. Lieutenant Commander Priyada Buasomboon, assistant spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, revealed that the Royal Thai Navy has ordered various units nationwide to deploy personnel and equipment to support public safety during the 2025 Loi Krathong Festival. This will ensure that people can safely participate in preserving Thai traditions. This includes strengthening surveillance and facilitating water safety, particularly in event areas with high population and tourist numbers, such as along the Chao Phraya River, or as designated by various units.

According to Thai News Agency, for central areas, the Royal Thai Navy has assigned the Riverine Fleet of the Fleet Operations Command to establish a water rescue center for Loy Krathong Day. The center will provide assistance along the Chao Phraya River, from Nonthaburi Bridge to the mouth of the Chao Phraya River, a distance of approximately 82 kilometers. Operations will begin at 5:00 PM on November 5th and continue until 8:00 AM on November 6th. Personnel, boats, ambulances, and life-saving equipment are prepared to provide rapid assistance. The Royal Thai Navy Water Rescue Center can be reached by calling the hotline at 1696.

The Royal Thai Navy would like to advise members of the public participating in Loi Krathong activities to prioritize safety, particularly by wearing life jackets while on boats, refraining from drinking alcohol while driving, avoiding the release of sky lanterns or fireworks, which could cause fires, and helping to maintain the cleanliness of rivers and canals to contribute to environmental conservation and the sustainable preservation of Thai culture.
