Bangkok:Rubber prices in Thailand have surged to their highest levels in a decade as the government implements stricter controls on informal rubber sales to strengthen market mechanisms.
According to Thai News Agency, economic data from the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) shows that rubber prices in 2026 have reached their peak since 2015. On October 27th, the price for smoked sheet rubber grade 3 was 97.90 baht per kilogram, raw sheet rubber was 93.50 baht per kilogram, fresh latex was 89.95 baht per kilogram, and 100% cup lump rubber was 82.17 baht per kilogram.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, through RAOT, is intensifying efforts to manage rubber production volume, maintain market equilibrium, and enhance the quality of Thai rubber to ensure fair pricing for farmers amidst global market fluctuations. Concurrently, the government is cracking down on illegal rubber trading, which could potentially increase market supply and depress prices for farmers.
To bolster these efforts, by fiscal year 2027, the Smart CESS system, integrated with GPS technology, will be deployed to track rubber movement and verify export fees. This initiative will work alongside the Phra Phirun Operations Center and related agencies to monitor and enforce regulations strictly.
Despite rising prices, the government remains committed to fair pricing and income protection for farmers. The Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) anticipates that rubber prices will stay elevated through the fourth quarter of 2026, driven by tight global supply and proactive management measures.
Furthermore, RAOT is advocating for the use of standardized rubber coagulants to maintain product quality and buyer confidence. By focusing on production, quality, and market mechanisms, the RAOT aims to develop the rubber sector, ensuring long-term income stability and trade opportunities for Thai farmers.
