Bangkok: A 31-year-old Thai-Indian man drove his sedan into a motorcyclist, resulting in the rider's immediate death, following a dispute about a prior accident. The incident occurred on Sukhumvit Road, near the Tent Avenue construction project, where authorities responded to the scene.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant Jarin Rattanasuwanchai, Deputy Inspector at Lumpini Police Station, received a report of the fatal collision involving a sedan and a motorcycle. The accident took place in Klongtoey Nua Subdistrict, Watthana District. Upon arrival, officers from the Forensic Science Division, a forensic doctor from Chulalongkorn Hospital, and volunteers from the Por Tek Tung Foundation joined the investigation.
At the scene, the body of Mr. Ritthisak, a 49-year-old rider, was found deceased near a steel pole with a CCTV camera. Nearby, a delivery box and helmet were discovered, with a damaged Honda EV Delivery motorcycle lying on its side. The sedan, a gold Toyota Altis, showed signs of damage, and its driver, Mr. Seri, was apprehended by traffic police. Mr. Seri, identified as the son of a fabric shop owner, declined to provide information and was taken to Lumpini Police Station.
The investigation revealed that Mr. Seri initially collided with Mr. Ritthisak's motorcycle and refused to negotiate damages. Mr. Ritthisak pursued Mr. Seri until they stopped near Siam 2 Massage for Health shop. After a confrontation, Mr. Seri reportedly attacked Mr. Ritthisak, leading to further escalation as Mr. Ritthisak attempted to escape. Mr. Seri ultimately drove into Mr. Ritthisak, causing his death upon impact with a CCTV pole.
Ms. Saijai, Mr. Ritthisak's wife, and their daughter arrived at the scene and were devastated by the loss. Ms. Saijai expressed her desire for justice, as Mr. Ritthisak was the family's sole provider. The police have charged Mr. Seri with intentional murder and reckless driving causing death, with legal proceedings underway.
Mr. Seri maintained his innocence during a prolonged interrogation, claiming the incident was accidental. Meanwhile, fellow motorcyclists and Mr. Seri's relatives gathered outside Lumpini Police Station, observing the unfolding investigation.
