Bangkok: Naraset Prachayakar, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Political Development and Public Participation, Human Rights, Rights, Liberties, and Consumer Protection, emphasized the Senate’s duty to scrutinize governmental activities as a group of senators readies to submit a request to investigate the soft power budget.
According to Thai News Agency, Senator Naraset addressed the Senate’s intent to investigate the Pheu Thai Party’s soft power budget, acknowledging circulating rumors about such an inquiry. He noted his awareness of several senators with expertise in soft power policies, despite not having discussed the specifics of the investigation’s approach. Naraset clarified that while the Senate Committee on Political Development focuses on constitutional drafting and public participation, soft power is not its primary mission.
Naraset further elaborated that the scrutiny of government projects, including the soft power budget, is a necessary function of the Senate. He emphasized that all senators
have the right to examine areas of interest and extended an invitation to his colleagues to fulfill their responsibilities in scrutinizing relevant matters.
