Rayong: The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) recently hosted its 'SET Roadshow in Rayong,' drawing over 1,000 participants to explore investment strategies in today's volatile global market. The event, which included seminars and workshops, covered a range of investment topics from fundamentals and trend updates to risk management tools and investment planning.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Soravis Krairiksh, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Marketing at SET, inaugurated the roadshow, emphasizing the importance of disseminating investment knowledge across Thailand. Rayong Province, a significant economic area with a 16% annual investor growth rate, was chosen for its youthful investor base, representing over 70% of the local investing population.
The roadshow aimed to educate participants on a variety of assets, including Thai and international stocks, mutual funds, and derivatives. The Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX) played a key role, offering risk management tools like Mini Gold Online Futures and the upcoming Options Wizard and Strategy Builder. These tools are designed to help investors manage risks and develop effective portfolio strategies.
Mr. Triwit Wangvorawut, Managing Director of TFEX, highlighted the shift from a "buy and hold" strategy to active portfolio management, encouraging diversification into alternative assets. He stressed the importance of understanding global market conditions and timing to capitalize on opportunities amidst geopolitical uncertainties, such as those in the Middle East.
Mr. Jaroonphan Watanawong, a licensed analyst, advised investors to monitor the global situation closely and use indicators like the Fear and Greed Index for decision-making. He emphasized diversification and the need to maintain reserves to mitigate market volatility, noting that sectors like energy might benefit in times of conflict.
Mr. Kavee Chookitkasem, Chief Portfolio Officer of Pi Securities Public Company Limited, discussed Thailand's economic challenges but highlighted the attractiveness of Thai stocks for long-term investment given their low prices relative to fundamentals. He advised novice investors to build a strong understanding of investment fundamentals, recommending diversified mutual funds as a starting point.
