Bangkok: Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkaew made a notable appearance at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, sparking questions regarding his potential political ambitions. Despite the interest, Mr. Sihasak clarified that he has yet to consider any political roles, including that of a Member of Parliament or a prime ministerial candidate, emphasizing that his visit was merely for a casual discussion.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sihasak was met with a flurry of questions from the media upon his arrival, focusing on whether he might run for a parliamentary seat. He reiterated his current stance, stating that he hasn't contemplated entering politics and was present only due to an invitation for a photo opportunity.
Amidst speculation about his potential candidacy for the Bhumjaithai Party's prime ministerial position, Mr. Sihasak expressed doubt over such developments, citing his current responsibilities as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He addressed the party's stance on foreign policy simply with a "Yes," without elaborating further.
When questioned about Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul's potential backup plan for a prime ministerial candidate, in light of Ms. Supajee Suthamphan's indecision, Mr. Sihasak responded with laughter, admitting a lack of knowledge on the matter and reiterated that his visit was primarily for the photo shoot.
Mr. Sihasak also mentioned that the Bhumjaithai Party already has two prime ministerial candidates, suggesting that the current situation should remain unchanged. He stressed that he is not considering any political involvement at this time.
