Sirichok Sopha Probes Deeper into Shuffle Coin Controversy with Legal Affairs Committee

Bangkok:Mr. Sirichok Sopha, a former MP from the Democrat Party, has announced his intention to delve further into the Shuffle coin issue, as he prepares to testify at a meeting of the Legal Affairs Committee. Mr. Sirichok expressed interest in the matter, noting that despite Ms. Suchada Sangtansap's confirmation of holding shares in Shuffle coin, she has since sold them. The origins and current status of the 88 million coins allocated to investors at the company's inception remain unclear.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sirichok has identified a potential link between cryptocurrency mining and political figures, though he emphasized that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is still working to clarify this connection. He pointed out that the value of Shuffle coins increased by nearly 140% on the day of allocation, raising questions about Ms. Suchada's reluctance to discuss them, particularly since her husband is known to be a coin collector.

Mr. Sirichok also raised concerns about the fluctuating stock holdings associated with Ms. Suchada and her husband, noting a shift from an unknown 1% to a 1.47% sale. He stressed the need for further investigation into the share register from the British Virgin Islands, as the current records date back two years without any changes in shareholders.

Additionally, Mr. Sirichok addressed the potential conflict of interest involving Ms. Suchada's husband's investment in an online gambling website. This issue, he argued, could implicate Mr. Chaiyanok Chidchob, the Minister of Digital Economy and Society, due to the potential conflict of interest in appointing someone with such investments.

The controversy extends to Ms. Suchada's admission of her knowledge about her husband's investments during her tenure as the minister's secretary, raising further suspicions of a conflict of interest. Despite the Prime Minister's statement that these matters are private, Mr. Sirichok argues that the intertwined nature of assets and ministerial responsibilities necessitates a closer examination to rule out conflicts of interest.

Mr. Sirichok reiterated his readiness to provide additional information if required, particularly concerning the financial trail related to the trading of a 1.47% stake in a company valued at 20 billion baht. He highlighted the unusual timing of the share sale, given the company's profitability in 2025, questioning why such promising shares would be sold at that time.

Reporters noted a light-hearted moment before the interview when Mr. Sirichok humorously referenced bringing a "hoe" to dig deeper into the unresolved questions surrounding MP Idea. Mr. Supachai Jaisamut joined in the jest, asking about the hoe's whereabouts, to which Mr. Sirichok replied, "It's in the car."
