Bangkok: Social Security is expressing concern over the recent unrest on the Thai-Cambodian border. Mrs. Marasri Chairangsi, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, voiced her concerns regarding the gunfire from Cambodian troops in Si Sa Ket Province on July 24, 2025, which caused fatalities and injuries. She has instructed the Si Sa Ket Provincial Social Security Office to promptly investigate the situation and extend assistance to affected employees. According to Thai News Agency, the Secretary-General promptly responded to the incident by directing the Social Security Office of Si Sa Ket Province to gather information. The investigation revealed that there were deaths and injuries due to the event, with victims receiving treatment at Kantharalak Hospital in Kantharalak District, Si Sa Ket Province. However, the insured status of the victims remains unconfirmed. In cases where deceased individuals were employees who died during work, their heirs are entitled to receive benefits from the Social Se curity Office's Compensation Fund. This includes funeral expenses of 50,000 baht, death compensation equal to 70 percent of the salary for 10 years, and an old age pension with interest. Injured employees will also be covered by the Compensation Fund, with initial medical expenses ranging from 65,000 to 1,000,000 baht. If treated at a government hospital, medical expenses will be covered as needed until the end of treatment. Employees certified by a doctor to stop working will receive compensation for lost income of 70 percent of their monthly salary for up to one year. Compensation for loss of an organ or disability will also be provided. Insured individuals under Sections 33 and 39 injured in the incident, not related to work, can receive treatment at any hospital within 72 hours at the rate set by the Medical Committee. In case of disability, they will receive income replacement of up to 50 percent of their wages for life. Heirs of deceased individuals will receive funeral expenses of 50,000 baht, death b enefits of up to 50 percent of wages for 12 months, and old age pensions with interest. For insured persons under Section 40, coverage includes compensation for lost income due to accidents or illnesses, such as 300 baht per day for hospitalization and 200 baht per day if not hospitalized but requiring medical rest. Disability compensation ranges from 500 to 1,000 baht per month. In case of death, options 1 and 2 provide funeral expenses of 25,000 baht, while option 3 offers 50,000 baht.
